MAX IV - MAX IV Laboratory

<div><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-fareast-font-family:&quot;ヒラギノ角ゴ ProN W3&quot;;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial; mso-ansi-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-font-style:italic">MAX IV Laboratory is currently operating three storage rings for the production of synchrotron radiation for both national and international researchers. In addition it is engaged in the construction of a new facility to become operational in 2015 that comprises of two storage rings (1.5 Gev and 3 Gev) and a 3 GeV Linac. </span></div>
<div>The three operating storage rings are MAX I (550 MeV, established in 1986), MAX II (1.5 GeV, established in 1997) and MAX III (700 MeV, established in 2007). MAX II and MAX III are low emittance third generation storage rings offering excellent research opportunities. With the use of these three storage rings operated at different electron energies optimum performance is achieved over a wide spectral range, from IR through UV, VUV, soft x-rays into the hard x-ray regime. Thirteen beamlines are available for European users for research that cover in a wide range of scientific disciplines. Any user group can apply for beamtime and support. A Program Advisory Committee assists the MAX IV Laboratory board by evaluating and ranking the applications for beamtime at the different beamlines. About 60 % of the beamtime is allocated to no-Swedish users. Transnational access has been offered under FP4, FP5, FP6 and FP7 (ELISA). The laboratory possesses significant experience in welcoming European users, and the provision of technical, logistic and scientific support.&nbsp;&nbsp;One of the keys to the success of MAXIV has been the cost-effective build-up of the laboratory. The investments in the storage rings have been carefully balanced to the investments in the beamlines and notably in the end stations. The laboratory focuses on high quality and world leadership in the areas where it has uniqueness in accelerator facilities and beamlines. The instrumentation is state-of-the-art and the many excellent research groups utilising MAXIV perform research of highest quality.&nbsp;</div>
